NW 9th and Hoyt Street Sewer and Water Project
Project Schedule
Design is nearly complete. Construction is expected to begin in April or May of 2024 and should take about six months to complete. More detailed schedule information will be distributed in advance of construction.
What's Happening Now?
Project engineers are finalizing project design. This project will replace aging sewer and water pipes and significantly increase system capacity in the neighborhood. You may see crews in the area doing survey work, locating utilities, and conducting other preconstruction activities. Find out more about these activities at https://www.portland.gov/bes/preconstruction.
Night Work Proposed - NW Hoyt at NW 10th and NW 11th
To avoid interference with the Portland Streetcar operations, and to protect crews and the traveling public, Environmental Services is requesting a noise variance to work at night. A variance is required when work occurs outside normal construction hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Proposed nighttime work hours are between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
Equipment that will be used includes: vactor trucks and project vehicles, lights, and generators. Noise reduction methods such as sound barriers and “smart alarm” back up beepers will be used to reduce noise levels, if necessary.
