Board Member and Chair of Emergency Preparedness

After retiring, I moved to Portland in 2012 from Washington, D.C. I volunteer as the chair of my building’s emergency preparedness committee. I also serve as the co-chair for the PDNA Emergency Committee. In my previous life, I worked initially as an economic researcher for the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). My work spanned economic research into the sources, measures and effects of productivity on the US economy. I also managed the BLS Hours At Work survey. I taught classes to visiting foreign economists and statisticians in various aspects of productivity theory and measurement. I also was tasked with making recommendations for improvements in productivity measurement, survey design and data collection of a number of foreign statistical programs. I later served as Division Chief and was responsible for measurement and publication of several key statistical measures of the BLS. And finally served as Division Chief of a newly created Division of Productivity Research and Program Development. I also volunteered for nearly 10 years as treasurer of DACKKS – a NJ-based supportive housing non-profit.
